A Swinging Bridge On Big Woods Trail
August 29th, 2026
Ribbon-cutting ceremony at Big Woods Trail in Hueston Woods State Nature Preserve.
We had a very nice turn out for this event. Our speakers were Kathryn Conner, Park Manager, Eric Sagasser , Preserve Manager, and Kevin Johnston, Visitors Bureau of Hueston Woods Region. Attendees learned about the rarity of old- growth forests and the history of the protection of this stand. After recognition of our sponsors, the ribbon was cut, and Kathryn led attendees on a guided hike.
Old-growth forest= a mature forest that has developed over a long period of time without human disturbance (cutting).
